[AW] To Know - Valentine - 04-09-2018 A land of different biomes, of strange temperature shifts but much wildlife and things to forage. He'd left the place of his falling, wanting to explore and to know more about where he'd landed. Word of mouth was one thing but it was another to actually experience it for himself. Wings lifted him up into the air, every flew flaps sending a shooting star dancing across the great feathered expanse while every movement shifted his glittering stars. It was a juxtaposition to the early rising sun that was just beginning to make its way up into the sky. The morning was here and so was he. He hadn't known quite how to fly, only that when he'd opened his wings to stretch them it was an automatic thing. Like walking, he'd never quite forgotten it and so it was an easy task to take to the air to explore. The sky was quicker than walking the ground and altogether safer though the winds chilled him far more than he was used to. Land. He needed to rest and eat for a bit, recover and then take off once more. He was passing over a fertile belt, this was where he would take his rest. The star-pelted buck landed and within a few moments was quenching his thirst at one of the snaking rivers. His next action was to begin grazing some of the rich vegetation. It was fed a nutritious diet by the loamy soil and he could taste it. The buck was reluctant to leave and so, after a moment of deliberation, he settled beneath a tree and began to ruminate. His pale blue eyes took in everything around him, every strange creature and every movement the wind caused the foliage. Even his mind was open to the approach of others where he could sense even the tiniest flicker of thought from the bugs below him. He wanted to miss not a single thing but in this state of "knowing" it was also a state where he was the most vulnerable to being snuck up on. RE: [AW] To Know - Nyosit - 04-09-2018 What a strange event the festival had been. Granted, Nyosit had never been to a festival such as that one, but she doubted that what happened was normal. Giant balls of fire, lighting up the sky like fireworks and producing so much light that night almost seemed to turn day again. If it hadn't been for the clear danger that the large fireballs produced as they descended, it would have been a beautiful sight. But many, if not all, of the participants in the festival didn't know what these falling stars were, so the first instinct had been to run for cover. The natural fight or flight thought-process that nearly all deer possessed was what had caused the chaos that followed. As boulders slammed into the earth, deer scattered and screamed, running towards the forest, for it was the only protection they knew. Very few deer stood their ground, and even fewer approached the stars once they had landed. Nyo had been apart of that few. She had approached one of the balls of fire and smoke, caution in her eyes and stature. Then she saw them. The deer, all unlike any deer she had ever seen, emerged from the smoke. After it had ended, Nyo decided to go back to her previous homeland, the one she had been a resident of all her life. She found herself at one of the rivers that weaved it's way through the valley. She had taken a little while to drink and get over the excitement that had resulted during the night. But she found that she wasn't alone. She caught sight of movement in the trees, causing her head to lift and her ears to swivel forward. Whatever it was had a dark coat, one that was difficult to distinguish from the darkness. But she could see a white glow, one that almost resembled white eyes, in the darkness. Despite not knowing what this creature was, she cautiously stepped forward, silver hooves clicking against the stones that littered the river-floor. She maneuvered herself so that her black and silver-dappled pelt was better hidden and watched closely with glowing green eyes for any movement. Her long wolf-like tail remained still behind her and her head was lightly curved downwards, just in case she needed to use the two, small white horns above her eyes in defense. RE: [AW] To Know - Valentine - 04-09-2018 Before he even saw her or even noticed the movement among the trees it was the stirrings of consciousness that alerted him to her presence. At the edges of his mental sensing he could feel her, no thoughts or no emotions for spying was rude. This he knew somehow from somewhere long past where he was trained in etiquette by something or someone... or maybe he just knew automatically. The past was out of reach but the present was what he should focus on now. The star stag knew she was near and he brought his mental net in, closing off the flow of information around him so that he could better focus on what he was sure would be an interaction to come. Anticipation colored him, this would be the first real time he would be able to speak with one of the creatures here and learn all that he could. He simply used his power, what caused that third eye to glow with its white light, to detect and sense roughly where she was. His ears swiveled around towards her when he could hear the hooves on stone which was followed slowly by his head. First he stared impassively at what he could make out in the darkness but then a smile showed on his face, it mirrored the emotion he allowed to flow towards her. He could form no words of mouth so instead he made due with what he could with his mind. The feeling he sent was a wave of warmth and welcome. There were no words with the feeling but there was an implied greeting there. In his way he was saying "hello" in a manner that might be considered abnormal to those of this world but to him was a normal as breathing. Emotions and feelings in place of words, he knew without knowing that it was how it had always been with him. He hoped his warm welcome was enough to bring her off of her guard for he wanted no trouble. The way she had her head dropped slightly, those horns prone warranted a question in and of itself... He sent an image of her charging him with those horns coupled with a feeling of faint curiosity and inquiry. Did she have intentions to harm him? Or was it purely defensive as he envisioned? RE: [AW] To Know - Nyosit - 04-10-2018 A flash of movement, though only small, caught her eyes quickly. Even though she could see the general outline of the figure, she still couldn't fully see what exactly was standing in front of her. But she did see antlers, which calmed her a bit. She then saw the glowing again, two eyes similar to her own. But she also saw another, resembling an eye except in the wrong spot. It took her a moment or two to realize just what she was looking at. There was no way that she was staring at a three-eyed deer. She wanted to doubt this thought, but she found no other explanation for what she saw. She was then hit with something, though it wasn't physical. It was more of an atmospheric change, as if the air around her was suddenly calm and inviting. This feeling aided her previous thoughts in calming her down, though this feeling she was getting did bring up suspicions. She then seemed to see an image, almost like a 2-second vision, of herself charging towards a dark figure, one that was covered in small white spots and resembled the night sky. She thought for a moment, considering what this flash of scene meant. She did realize what it had been intended for, but was unsure of how she had seen it. "I have no intentions of attacking you." She stated this, but whether or not he would understand what she was saying was unknown to her. He hadn't spoken, but that could also be for a reason. She merely hoped that this sky-coated deer could interpret. "Who are you?" RE: [AW] To Know - Valentine - 04-11-2018 It was second nature to him, the way he communicated and flashed the images at the doe. The innate way that he "spoke" was natural to him and when the ones of this land, Idris, spoke to him using their mouths it was always just a tiny bit jarring. Her spoken reassurances drew his eyes downward to her mouth as he watched the way the sounds worked themselves out from between her lips. It was an interesting thing but he wouldn't make the same mistake as he had at the landing, he knew better than to try to speak as they did. So, he continued his ruminating but the smile still remained as did the general atmosphere. To her reassurance he gave a nod of his head, a simple dip of his antlers in gratitude and understanding. Her next words were a question and to convey who he was would need more than a sense of emotion or an image. He spoke but without moving his mouth. The words were telepathic as he bridged the gap from his mind to hers with a one-way flow of information. >>Valentine.<< One simple name for he could not remember the rest or whether he'd had a surname to begin with. It was disconcerting, to say the least. Not to allow a lapse in the flow of information he reached out again with an image of herself coupled with that feeling of curiosity and inquiry as before. A name for a name, that was customary, yes? At least that was how he knew it to be just as he knew how to speak without speaking. A thought occurred to him then... If all of the creatures here preferred words... Should he use words now? He seemed to be thinking for a moment, his three eyes all thoughtful as he contemplated this but decided to continue on the route he was on. Why change when she seemed to be interpreting just fine? Besides, he had to admit how amusing it was to see how far he would be allowed to get before she called him on his bluff so to speak. RE: [AW] To Know - Nyosit - 04-13-2018 This buck, this "fallen star" so to speak, was very...strange. While the dark doe waited for a response from him, she took a moment to examine him, gleaming green eyes scanning over his figure and taking in the major details, since he wasn't out in the open to see those that were hidden in shadow. Dark pelt dappled with lighter spots, small fangs jutting from his upper-lip, feathery wings, what appeared to be a long tail similar to her own, tall white antlers, and...three eyes. She hadn't intended to stare, but that third eye was very mind-boggling and unusual. It was hard not to look at, for no deer that she had ever seen in all of Idris had this feature. Her thoughts were interrupted before she could further question his appearance. A single word, or name rather, went through her head, which she could only assume was another strange ability of the buck before her. She presumed that Valentine was his name, but right after the name went through her head, she got that strange feeling from before. It was like she was sensing what felt like emotion but wasn't feeling it. The first time it had happened, it was generally easy to understand what the meaning behind it was. But this time was a little more difficult. Her eyes remained locked onto the star-covered buck, filled with true confusion for a moment, but it faded away quickly. Honestly, she didn't have a clue what he had tried to "send" her this time. Luckily for the male, the thought of telling her own name went through her head on its own rather than being derived from his generated feeling of curiosity. "I am Nyosit." For a moment, a look of understanding, or perhaps minute conflict, went across the buck's face. Desiphering what exactly he was thinking wasn't easy, but it almost never was. In this situation, understanding what this buck was feeling, thinking, or doing were all more difficult, for he was unlike her. He had fallen from the sky, a fully-grown deer born from the stars and dropped on earth with many others of his kind. At this thought, another question ran through her mind, coming out of her mouth the moment it occured. "What are you?" Perhaps to some this question may have almost seemed offensive, given the circumstances, but it was an inquiry worth the risk. As sort of "racist" it would likely turn out, should the encounter come to that, he was a deer, but he wasn't a deer like her. In her mind, he almost wasn't required to recieve respect or have the same freedoms as she. She didn't think of herself as higher than he, nor did she believe that she was superior in race to him, but...he had fallen from the sky. In an asteroid that was on fire. She had briefly seen him fly away from said broken asteroid. He had a lot of questions to answer, as did the rest of his kind. Thesereatures weren't going to just fall from the heavens in flaming balls of glory and just live normal lives among the Orian. She could only hope that they knew this. RE: [AW] To Know - Valentine - 04-15-2018 His message, the thoughts sent to her perhaps were not quite understood as he intended them to be but in the end what he wanted in return for his own name was answered. Nyosit. An interesting name. He stored it away as he usually did with most information. He had had no further questions at the time but now, she had one for him. The doe's next one caught him a bit off guard and in the end he ended up showing amusement. Not with his mind as he had done before but with an actual laugh, a breathy thing that might sound strange but was easily understood with the smile and amused twinkling in his three eyes. A fallen deer from the sky, if he had seen such a thing himself he might be confused if they were actually deer too. Her blunt question was hardly taken offense to and he readily had a response. >>Cerulis.<< He hadn't quite known where the name had come from but he knew that it was right. Just as he knew it was wrong to pry into someone's mind without asking. >>A deer, not unlike you... But different.<< Then, his mind fell silent as he let the last thought-spoken word ring out. After a moment and a few more silent chews of his cud he allowed his mind to wander out to hers again, amusement and curiosity playing in the background while he voiced his own question, >>What deer are you?<< The word "you" was accompanied with a brief flash of every deer that he had seen staring in wide-eyed shock at their crash-landing. He knew this land name but did not know who these interesting creatures were. He'd automatically gravitated to his own kind but he was interested to learn more. words| tags | notes
>>Telepathy!<< Telepathic images and thoughts. His own thoughts... 'Cerulis'. She also briefly heard him describe his kind as similar to her own, but also different. That didn't necessarily answer her question entirely, but it was an answer she accepted. She then received another of the buck's strange messages, asking what kind of deer she was while also sending what appeared to be an image. The image, she assumed, was what he saw when he first landed on the surface. She saw many deer, many faces that she recognized from the gathering, staring back at him with wide, frightened eyes. "We are called Orian. We are born here; we don't fall from the sky as your kind have." As she answered the buck's question, another question appeared in her head, one that was related to what she had originally asked. "Which reminds we, where do you come from? You fell from the sky, but surely you didn't just form inside of a stone." But what if her thought had been right? What if these strange fallen creatures really had just formed inside of a stone. In her mind, it wasn't possible, but, then again, she never thought she would see flaming balls of fire fall to the surface and watch deer emerge from them either. At this point, anything was possible. His answer would indeed answer a question or two, if he answered at all. Doe || 2yrs || Orian || Wanderer Made by Riley at THQ! RE: [AW] To Know - Valentine - 04-20-2018 Born there and didn't fall from the sky. That's what she told him and what he knew was true... but how did they fall from the sky? What happened in his --no-- their past lives that they ended up in stars crashing to the ground? He nodded his head a few times, and though he was confused on the origins of his kind, he projected amusement. In an instant it changed though when she began to question him once more. She asked where he'd come from but he had nothing to offer her. His brown furrowed slightly, the movement causing stars to twinkle into life and fade the next instant on his night-like pelt. >>I... don't know... All blank...<< He admitted as he tried to wrack his brain for an explanation. He was drawing a blank, from before he awakened on the earth there were no memories to call upon. Everything was silent, still, and black. He could recall no face of his parents or siblings or herdmates. It was concerning to say the least... Valentine shook his head and gave a gentle shrug of his shoulders and a wing ruffle which sent a shooting star across them. >>Maybe we did arise from stones.<< There was humor lacing through these thought-words that traced them as a joke. He sent her an amusing thought of deer forming in a stone and hatching from it like an egg. It was synthetic in nature just like his sent emotions and feelings and it was really to lighten the mood... He didn't know the answer to what she wanted and it honestly concerned him but making light of it made him feel just a tiny bit better about it all. 286| Nyosit | notes
